About us
Make New and Mend was born on the West Coast of Cumbria in February 2020. Yes, we opened two weeks before the pandemic lock down, but that did not stop us! Through Covid we worked with volunteers making masks, providing boredom boxes and a whole range of other permitted activities which at the end earned us an award from the High Sheriff of Cumbria!
Make New and Mend’s ethos revolves around accessibility, dressmaking, upholstery, soft furnishings and crafts available to everyone from beginner to advanced. We combine affordability with opportunity to purchase branded fabrics at a reasonable price and to develop skills which are mindful and productive, great for calming the mind whilst igniting inspiration. We have also adopted the re-new, re-use and recycle model….as they say, every little helps.
In 2025 the business moved to Shifnal in Shropshire…longf story, best told in person, and yes, we have a physical shop! So, if you’re in the area please drop in and say ‘Hi’…..
